Trauma & PTSD
Understanding trauma responses, reducing distress, addressing avoidance and triggers, and helping difficult experiences become less controlling.
I’m a seminary-trained trauma therapist. I work with adults who are looking for real-life solutions to anxiety, trauma, depression, major life transitions, and other challenges that can leave them feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

I am a combat veteran with more than 12 years of experience living and working overseas. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 19 years in a prior career, including experience serving in ministry overseas. Those experiences shape the perspective I bring to counseling, particularly when working with veterans, people navigating major transitions, and clients whose lives do not fit neatly into one category.
My approach blends useful tools with thoughtful conversation, helping you better understand what you are experiencing while also building strategies you can use in everyday life. I have worked successfully with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and life experiences. For clients who want faith to be part of counseling, my seminary and ministry background also allows us to integrate Christian faith naturally into the process.
I am trained in EMDR and use evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, motivational interviewing, and other methods based on the needs and goals of the person in front of me.

Understanding trauma responses, reducing distress, addressing avoidance and triggers, and helping difficult experiences become less controlling.
Counseling informed by military culture and the realities of service, deployment, transition, relationships, loss, and life after the military.
With seminary training and ministry experience, I offer a Christian counseling perspective that understands faith as a central lens for making sense of ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. For clients seeking it, Christian beliefs and spiritual reflection can be integrated naturally into the therapeutic process.
Support for anxiety, uncertainty, changing roles, relationships, identity, and seasons when old ways of coping are no longer effective.
EMDR may be incorporated when it fits your goals and clinical needs, particularly when past experiences continue to create distress in the present.
My practice is focused on individual psychotherapy with adults. I do not provide couples therapy through this practice.

I believe therapy works best when insight leads to something useful in everyday life.
I tend to be collaborative, direct, and grounded. We may spend time understanding why a pattern developed, how past experiences continue to affect the present, or why a particular situation has become difficult to manage. From there, we develop strategies that fit your goals and make sense in your life.
Some clients benefit from structured trauma treatment such as EMDR. Others need a place to think clearly, challenge unhelpful patterns, develop better coping strategies, or navigate a difficult season. Therapy should be responsive to the person rather than forcing every person through the same process.
